2nd Annual Iris Merchants Pinecrest Community Fun Day

The Iris Plaza Merchants will be holding their second annual Community Fun Day this Sunday, September 11th from 11:00-4:00 in the parking lot of Iris Plaza at 1125 Cobden Road.  This event will feature free face painting for children provided by Councillor Rick Chiarelli’s office.  Come enjoy this awesome way to connect with your neighbours and support some of the excellent businesses in our community!

Discover Synchronized Swimming with Nepean Synchro!


For girls ages 5 - 13 who are looking for an active water sport this season, check out Nepean Synchro, currently ranked the #2 club in Ontario!

Our Recreational Programs range from a 6-week Junior Squirts program for 5-6 year olds, all the way to full-year programs for all ages, including a NEW pre-teen Intro to Synchro for 11 year olds and over.

In a matter of a few months, swimmers will bond with new friends, become part of the synchro community, and learn the basic skills of synchro. They will also have an opportunity to perform their choreographed routines in front of friends and family at the year-end watershow on April 29, 2017.

Synchro is a sport that promotes strength, endurance, flexibility, grace and artistry, to name just a few benefits... Synchro swimmers are some of the best all-around athletes!

If your daughter enjoys swimming and loves music and team work, then synchronized swimming may be the ideal sport for her!

Ottawa – Ottawa residents are invited to sample a variety of fitness opportunities at City recreation facilities during the fall edition of Try it!

You have the entire month of September to try three free fitness sessions at City facilities. This is a great opportunity to try aquafitness, cycling and group fitness classes, or to work out in a participating City of Ottawa cardio or weight training centre free of charge.

Simply visit one of the following participating facilities to set up your free membership access card, which provides you three visits during the month of September:

Essayez-le! GRATUITEMENT en septembre7

Ottawa – Les résidents d’Ottawa sont invités à profiter de différentes possibilités de mise en forme aux installations de loisirs de la Ville pendant l’édition d’automne d’Essayez-le!

Vous avez tout le mois de septembre pour faire l’essai de trois séances de conditionnement physique gratuites dans les installations de la Ville. Il s’agit d’une excellente occasion d’essayer l’aquaforme, le cardiovélo et les cours de conditionnement physique de groupe ou de vous entraîner gratuitement dans l’un des centres d’entraînement cardio ou de musculation participants de la Ville d’Ottawa.

Il vous suffit de vous rendre à l’une des installations participantes suivantes afin d’obtenir votre carte d’accès gratuite qui vous donnera droit à trois séances durant le mois de septembre.

Stage 2 Light Rail Transit (LRT) Connectivity

From the City of Ottawa:

As part of the LRT Stage 2 project – which extends the O-Train Confederation Line east and west, and Trillium Line farther south – The City of Ottawa has undertaken a Stage 2 Station Connectivity Study to ensure that community connections are preserved and enhanced along the expanded O-Train system. The study outlines a series of mobility enhancements, including bicycle facilities, multi-use pathways and crosswalks.

We invite you to give us your feedback on the study at a series of public consultations being held from
7 to 9 p.m. at the following locations:

West Stations:
  • (Queensview, Pinecrest and Bayshore) – August 9, 2016 - All Saints Lutheran Church, 1061 Pinecrest Road
  • (Iris and Baseline) – August 10, 2016 – Algonquin College ACCE Building, 1385 Woodroffe Avenue, Room CA105, 1st floor
South Stations:
  • (Walkley, Greenboro and South Keys) –  August 17, 2016 Jim Durrell Recreation Centre, 1265 Walkley Road
  • (Leitrim and Bowesville) – August 30, 2016 Rideauview Community Centre, 4310 Shoreline Drive
East Stations:
  • (Montreal Road, Jeanne d'Arc, Orléans Blvd., Place d'Orléans and Trim) August 29, 2016 - Bob MacQuarrie Recreation Complex, 1490 Youville Drive
The public consultation will include:
  • Recommendations for connectivity planning and design based on existing City plans and context
  • Moderated break-out sessions to get input from the community on these recommendations
Ward Councillors and representatives from the City will be available to discuss the project and answer questions.
