City of Ottawa - Residents are encouraged to use drop-in clinics and move up late appointments to achieve Ottawa’s two-dose summer

Update:
  • Get a vaccine without an appointment at select drop-in clinics
  • Move up your September and October vaccine appointments
  • Other options to get your vaccine

Get a vaccine without an appointment at select clinics
Beginning tomorrow, residents can drop in to select community clinics in Ottawa to receive a first or second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine without an appointment.

While all clinics are offering drop-ins for first doses, second dose drop-ins will only take place at clinics that have enough supply. This will change daily.  The list of locations will be updated daily on ottawapublichealth.ca and on the City’s Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts.

Move up your September and October vaccine appointments
This initiative is especially useful for individuals with second dose appointments in late August, through to November so that they can move up their appointments to July or early August. Most of these appointments were booked automatically through the provincial booking system when individuals made their first dose appointments. Unfortunately, many of these appointments are for clinic times and dates that will no longer exist due to progress in the City’s vaccine distribution plan.

You are able to receive your second dose at least 28 days after receiving an mRNA vaccine (Moderna or Pfizer), and at least eight weeks after receiving AstraZeneca vaccine.

To cancel your September or October appointment and replace it with an earlier one, visit the provincial booking system or use this tool.

Other options to get your vaccine:
  • Sign up weekly for a COVID-19 vaccine wait list to receive an alert when a last-minute appointment becomes available near you. Ottawa Public Health will contact you by text, email or phone.
  • Book an appointment through the provincial booking tool or a local pharmacy
  • Visit a drop-in clinic if you live in a priority neighbourhood

After you have been vaccinated you will receive a confirmation email with proof of vaccination. Remember to check your junk folder. You can also get a vaccine receipt through Ontario.ca/bookvaccine.

Interchanging vaccines
Community clinics are administering the mRNA vaccines (Moderna and Pfizer), and residents will be informed on-site which one they are receiving. Since interchanging vaccines is safe and effective, the priority is to receive two doses of any vaccine to complete the series and be fully protected.

City of Ottawa - Drop-in appointments now available for residents needing first dose

The City of Ottawa and Ottawa Public Health are making it easier for residents who have yet to receive their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. Anyone who has not yet had a first dose can now drop in to any City-run community clinic between 10 am and 7 pm or pop-up clinic while supplies last. No appointment needed. You can find a clinic near you by using the vaccine clinic location tool on OttawaPublicHealth.ca/COVID19vaccine.

Residents who have already received their first dose are also reminded to re-book their second dose appointments to an earlier date. All residents who are 12 years old and up can book their second dose as early as 28 days after their first dose.

Those who prefer a scheduled appointment can book a first or second dose appointment by visiting Ontario.ca/bookvaccine to access the provincial booking system or call the provincial vaccine booking line at 1-833-943-3900 between 8 am and 8 pm, seven days a week. You may also be eligible for vaccination at a local pharmacy, now or at the Bruyère vaccine clinic.

City of Ottawa - The time is now to book your COVID-19 vaccine appointment

Residents who were waiting to book a COVID-19 vaccine appointment can schedule it now. Numerous appointments are available between today and July 20 for residents needing their first dose or accelerated second dose at community clinics.

Additionally, the City added over 39,000 appointments today between July 21 and 30, 2021 at community clinics across the city. Additional appointments will be added if needed.

If you have a second dose appointment booked in the fall, now is the time to reschedule it for an earlier date. As more people get fully vaccinated sooner, Ottawa gets closer to community immunity and we can think about a return to normal activities.

To book a first or reschedule your second dose appointment, visit Ontario.ca/bookvaccine to access the provincial booking system or call the provincial vaccine booking line at 1-833-943-3900 between 8 am and 8 pm, seven days a week. You may also be eligible for vaccination at a local pharmacy, at a pop-up clinic, or at the Bruyère vaccine clinic.

You can also register daily on the vaccine wait-list tool to book last-minute, same-day COVID-19 vaccinations at City of Ottawa community clinics for unclaimed doses. City of Ottawa - Booking an accelerated appointment for youth

Residents may experience issues with the online provincial booking system when booking an accelerated COVID-19 second dose for youth who are 12 years old and older. A series of questions will be asked during the registration process. When asked if you are registering for a youth clinic, please select "No". There are currently no youth-only clinics in Ottawa at this time and selecting "Yes" will prompt the system to say there are no available appointments.

To book a first or second dose appointment for yourself or a child in your care, visit Ontario.ca/bookvaccine to access the provincial booking system or call the provincial vaccine booking line at 1-833-943-3900 between 8 am and 8 pm, seven days a week. You may also be eligible for vaccination at a local pharmacy, at a pop-up clinic, or at the Bruyère vaccine clinic.
