City of Ottawa - Accessibility Spotlight - January 2023

Accessibility Supports for the Vacant Unit Tax Declaration

Starting this year, the City of Ottawa is introducing a new Vacant Unit Tax and Ottawa homeowners can now complete their occupancy status declaration.

The City has set up declaration options for residents who may require accessibility-related supports, and for those without access to the internet or digital devices, such as computers, tablets and other hand-held devices:

  • Call 613-580-2444 where an agent will help complete your declaration over the phone
  • Call 613-580-2400 to contact the City using Canada Video Relay Service
  • Book an in-person appointment at the Mary Pitt Centre (100 Constellation Drive)
Ottawa homeowners have until March 16, 2023 to file an occupancy status declaration for 2022.

Please visit www.ottawa.ca/vut for more information. Information is also available in Arabic, Somali, Simplified Chinese and Spanish.

Snow Angel Program

Do you know a Snow Angel who deserves recognition?

A Snow Angel is a neighbour or friend who has volunteered to help you, or someone you know who is elderly or has a disability, to clear snow from the driveway, steps or walkway.

If you know a Snow Angel, the City of Ottawa wants to thank them!
Snow Angels will receive a certificate signed by Mayor Sutcliffe.

How to nominate a Snow Angel
Snow Angel nominations will be accepted between December 1 and March 31.

To recognize a resident as a Snow Angel, please inform us by one of the following methods:
  • ottawa.ca
  • Call 3-1-1 or 613-580-2400 for Canada Video Relay Service
