Winter registration update

Our online dates for winter programs have changed and will no longer be on Monday, November 21. They are coming soon! Keep an eye out for a DiscoverRec, and our social media channels for new dates and all the information on how to use our new system!

Young at Art 2023 application now open

Do you know a budding artist between 12 and 19-years-old? Young at Art applications are now open for 2023! Categories include painting, drawing, three-dimensional, photography, mixed media and others including printmaking and digital media. Age groups are 12 to 15 years and 16 to 19 years. Go to ottawa.ca/youngatart for details on how to apply by Monday, March 20, 2023.

Orléans Christmas Bazaar

Join in the festive fun at Shenkman Arts Centre on Saturday, December 3 and Sunday, December 4. The lobbies will be transformed into a Christmas market full of unique gift ideas brought to you by creative, local vendors. Open from 11 am to 4 pm, there will be plenty of time to enjoy a stroll around. For more information shenkmanarts.ca

Winter Helmet Discount Weekend

Think ahead this winter and wear a helmet. Looking for a new one? On Saturday, December 3 and Sunday, December 4, select stores in Ottawa will be offering a special discount on winter helmets. Check out the stores below. You can also visit ottawa.ca/sledding for more information and locations of approved sledding hills. Register for the United Nations International Day of Persons with Disabilities Event

You are cordially invited to celebrate the 2022 United Nations International Day of Persons with Disabilities with the City of Ottawa. The UN theme for 2022 is “Transformative solutions for inclusive development: the role of innovation in fuelling an accessible and equitable world”.     Date: Thursday December 1, 2022  Time: 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.  Location: Zoom   RSVP: Please use the Registration Form to sign-up for the event.    Please join the City of Ottawa as we celebrate this historic day. In addition to the Mayoral Proclamation to mark the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, this event is an opportunity to be updated and aware of calls to action from our federal and provincial accessibility counterparts. We will also showcase the innovative and vital work of our Accessibility Advisory Committee (AAC) and the Ottawa Disability Coalition to fuel an accessible and equitable Ottawa. To ensure inclusion, the following supports will be provided:  American Sign Language (ASL),   Langue des Signes Québécoise (LSQ)  Continuous real-time captioning  Simultaneous French translation Please register by Wednesday, November 30 at 4:00 pm.  Please let us know when you register if you require any additional accessibility accommodations to fully participate in the event. Nepean Sportsplex Christmas Craft Show

The wait is almost over! Christmas shopping starts with the Nepean Sportsplex Christmas Craft Show which runs from Thursday, November 3 to Sunday, November 6. Visit over 100+ vendors and find that unique locally made gift you are looking for. It’s a great chance to get a gift or stocking stuffer for friends or family. Winter registration is coming soon! There will be the usual variety of programs from skating to art, STEM, swimming and much more. The City of Ottawa continues to offer in-person and virtual programing for all ages. There will be a new registration system in place, so keep an eye on your email for a special DiscoverRec with instructions on setting up your new online account.
