City of Ottawa - Cleaning the Capital registration starts August 15!

Join the thousands of community volunteers to help keep Ottawa clean and green in 2022!

Register your cleanup project for the Cleaning the Capital 2022 Fall campaign by September 30th.   Then, get cleaning between September 15 – October 15!  Cleanup kits will be made available for pick-up at seven City of Ottawa facilities.

Tips:

  • If you can, please set out all collected waste/litter at your home on your regularly scheduled waste collection day. Remember to respect the six-item limit. Visit Garbage and Recycling for more information.
  • If you can’t take it home, or if you have collected large quantities of waste/litter, please contact the Cleaning the Capital team at cleaning@ottawa.ca (preferred) or 613-580-2424, ext. 13458 on the day of your cleanup so that we can arrange for on-site pickup.  Remember to provide us with your registration number, quantity of bags, exact pickup location, and, if possible, a photo of the waste/litter you have collected. Please note, waste/litter pickup will occur during regular business hours (Monday to Friday). Pickup requests submitted on weekends will be actioned on the next business day.
  • Leave the leaves! Leaves should be left in open spaces that are maintained by the City, including parks, and in all naturalized and natural areas. Fallen leaves provide overwintering shelter for many species of butterflies and bees.
  • Save your registration code to submit the online Cleanup Report for each project you completed by October 31, 2022.

Thanks for keeping Ottawa clean and green!

Ottawa Public Library - The Library wants your input on Facilities planning

The Library wants your input on Facilities planning!

Ottawa Public Library (OPL) is asking for your input on facilities planning!

Until September 15, complete a survey, available online and in Library branches, in English and French.

This survey is designed to confirm that the OPL draft Facilities Framework reflects your needs and invites you to share your opinion on access to library branch services. Your input will help finalize the Framework and make decisions regarding future OPL facilities.

The Facilities Framework will serve as a roadmap to ensure more equitable coverage to Library branch services across Ottawa.  It will also allow OPL to identify gaps in terms of access to Library branches and to determine how we plan to address these gaps.

It is essential that this Facilities Framework reflects the diverse needs and composition of the Ottawa community. Therefore, your participation is important to us.

For a sound understanding of its key elements, visit the Facilities Framework Public Engagement page or your local branch to consult:

  • An online presentation available in English and French, and;
  • The draft Facilities Framework, which is available in English and French, online, and with hard copies in Library branches.

Additionally, join us on Tuesday, August 23, from 7 pm to 8 pm for a virtual bilingual open house to give you an opportunity to ask questions and to help you understand the approach and the intended use of the Facilities Framework. Register on Eventbrite today !

The Library appreciates your support in not only taking part in this consultation but also in sharing the word on your various networks.

Please feel free to reach out to us for any questions regarding this public consultation at facilitiesframework@biblioottawalibrary.ca or visit the OPL website for any additional information.
