Household Hazardous Waste Day

Residents can take household hazardous waste to a one-day depot on Sunday, September 7, 2014 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 150 Tunney's Pasture Drive. These are items that cannot be safely left at the curb for pickup, including:

               Aerosol containers
               Batteries (automotive/household)
               Propane cylinders
               Fluorescent bulbs/tubes
               Fire extinguishers
               Fertilizers and pesticides
               Needles and syringes
               Pharmaceuticals
               Paints and coatings
               Pool chemicals

If you aren't able to turn in your household hazardous waste on the 7th, you can also return them to certain local retailers who accept this type of waste for recycling and proper disposal. For a list of retailers who accept HHW, please visit http://www.makethedrop.ca/. And check the City of Ottawa's website for more information about the disposal of waste and tips for reducing it.
