Reports of Attempted Car Break-Ins

There have been some attempted car break-ins in our community. There are some steps that you can take to make your vehicle less attractive to potential thieves. Remember to remove valuables from your vehicle including electronics such as GPS units. Second, lock your doors when you park your car. More advice is available on the Ottawa Police Service's Theft from vehicles site.

Make a report to the Ottawa Police Service if you notice suspicious behaviour or discover that items have been stolen from your vehicle. There are several ways of contacting the Ottawa Police for non-emergency reports detailed below. It is important to make a police report even if the items stolen from your vehicle are of low value or if you are uncertain whether behaviour that you have witnessed is related to criminal activity, because these reports are used by police to determine if additional patrols are needed in a community. The police can't provide additional crime prevention resources if they don't have data to justify their need.
