are cordially invited to an event to celebrate the City’s 19th annual
AccessAbility Day, held each year as part of National Access Awareness
Week.
This year’s theme is: Intersectionality - celebrating the
diversity within our community. The event will be held remotely over
Zoom.
Date: Wednesday, June 1, 2022
Time: 9 am to noon
Please join Deputy Mayor Laura Dudas, City Councillors, senior leaders, staff, and residents as we mark this important day.
At
the virtual event, Deputy Mayor Dudas will provide remarks and proclaim
Wednesday, June 1 AccessAbility Day in Ottawa. It will also feature
keynote speaker Sarah Jama, video testimonials from the City’s Employees
with Disabilities Affinity Group, and a community panel discussion on
intersectionality and disability focusing on ways individuals can be
more inclusive.
Registration will be open until 4 pm Tuesday, May 31. A Zoom link will be shared with registrants the evening before the event.
To promote the inclusion of all participants, the following supports are in place for the event:
- American Sign Language (ASL)
- Langue des signes québécoise (LSQ)
- Continuous real-time captioning in English and French
- Simultaneous French translation
