Discover the Ukulele and Learn to Play a Song!
The instrumentalist Joel Jacques will teach you how to hold it, how to play two or three easy chords and how to accompany easy songs. While focusing on a round shape, participants will learn shading techniques which they will use to produce a final painting. The workshop will look at alignment and breath, with how you sit, stand and walk, with the aim helping you develop a level of ease and comfort in your body as you move through your day. Wednesday, June 20, 2 pm Beaverbrook branch, 2500 Campeau Drive In English Register for Learn to Sing with Ferline Regis Poetry Workshop with Stephen Brockwell Saturday, June 30, 1 pm Carlingwood branch, 281 Woodroffe Avenue In English "Let Us Consider the Vast Finiteness of Words". Often, writers get stuck in their own patterns of speech and writing: a restricted diction, cadence, or tone. The exercises in this workshop involve expanding our understanding of how syllables actually work in a poem. Register for Poetry Workshop with Stephen Brockwell Collection French eAudio Books The Ottawa Public Library now has a collection of French eAudio! Visit the catalogue to see the varied choice available for all ages. Popular authors include Fred Vargas, Kim Thúy, Éric-Emmanuel Schmitt, and J. K. Rowling. You can listen through a web browser or use the CloudLibrary application. You can borrow 10 audiobooks at a time and the loan period is 21 days. If you are learning French, audiobooks are useful and enjoyable tools. Find a French eAudio Book Musical Instrument Lending Library In case you missed it – The Ottawa Public Library is now lending out a variety of musical instruments, to make sure you have everything you need on your path to discovering your musical talents. The Sun Life Financial Musical Instrument Lending Library was launched in November 2017, and customers can borrow a guitar, a mandolin, a violin, a ukulele, and a variety of other musical instruments at the Main and Nepean Centrepointe branches.
